Abernathy Biscuits

8 oz Flour
1/2 ts Baking powder
3 oz Caster sugar
1/2 ts Caraway seeds (opt)
1 Egg; beaten
1 tb Milk

Set oven to 350øF or Mark 4. Grease a baking sheet. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Rub in the butter well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and the caraway seeds (if required). Add the beaten egg and the milk and mix thoroughly until it forms a sticky dough. Turn the dough on to a floured surface and roll out thinly. Cut into rounds with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. Place on the baking sheet and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes until pale golden in colour.
